ISM-Nebraska 2018 Debra Smithers Excellence in Business Scholarships

ISM-Nebraska is pleased to announce it is now accepting applications for the 2018 Debra Smithers Excellence in Business Scholarships.  These scholarships have been established to encourage students in the geographic area represented by ISM-Nebraska to pursue a collegiate Bachelor or Master degree in Supply Chain Management / Logistics / Contract Management / Acquisitions / Negotiations and to promote the advancement of business professionalism. Candidates for this scholarship will be selected from students attending an accredited 4-year institution of higher education in Nebraska. 

Eligibility Requirements 

  • Must be enrolled in a 4-year institution of higher education in Nebraska, seeking a bachelor or master level degree in supply chain management / logistics / contract management / acquisition courses.
  • Selection will be based on college academic performance and ranking, evidence of involvement in activities, leadership positions held in academic and non-academic activities, academic and non-academic recognition and awards and teacher / adult recommendations.


Application and recommendation forms for the annual, non-renewable $1000 scholarships are available by clicking on the links below to the official 2018 scholarship letter, application form, and recommendation form.  Please notify any students who meet the qualifications noted on the application form of this opportunity and encourage them to submit an application.  Each applicant must also submit an official college transcript, one-page essay (not to exceed 250 words), and have (2) recommendations submitted on their behalf by an instructor, advisor, administrator or member of a business organization who have first-hand knowledge of the applicant’s abilities and personality.

Completed applications, transcripts, essays and (2) recommendations per applicant must be received by the ISM-Nebraska Scholarship Committee, ISM Nebraska, P.O. Box 24338, Omaha, NE 68124-0338 by March 16,2018. Applications received without all four elements (application, transcript, essay and (2) recommendations) will not be reviewed by the scholarship committee for consideration.  It is important for students applying for this scholarship to make sure all elements of the application are received by the committee by the deadline date.  (It is recommended that all documents be sent to the committee in a single mailing)
