Forecasting in the Su pply Chain: Tools & Best Practices

Topic Overview:  In this presentation, forecasting tools that can aid in demand management will be discussed and demonstrated.  This includes time-series approaches that utilize past demand to predict future demand, as well as methods that can account for trend in the available data.  Error measures that provide insights into forecast accuracy will also be examined.  Finally, tips on improving forecasting accuracy will also be highlighted.     

 About the Presenter:  Wesley S. Boyce is an Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the Department of Supply Chain Management and Analytics.  He earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration with an emphasis in logistics and supply chain management from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2014 and his MBA from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri.  Boyce joined UNL from the University of Iowa, where he taught courses in operations, supply chain management, and business analytics.  His research interests include a broad array of topics related to supply chain management and transportation, with specific interest on supply chain relationships and external costs of logistics.
